All you ever wanted to know about Vincent Van Gogh, in one app. Fully interactive, this app delivers the entirety of Van Gogh’s life in six chapters which includes Young Vincent, Emerging Artist, Paris, Arles, Saint-Rémy, and Auvers-sur-Oise. There is a short introduction video titled, Vincent van Gogh in 3 Minutes, which talks about his life, family, and art.
An interactive map shows where Van Gogh lived and worked throughout Europe and a chronology outlines his life. Each chapter starts with a quote from or about Van Gogh and delves, interactively, into his story. Many of his paintings are represented and discussed and there are over 30 letters written between Van Gogh and his brother, Theo that can be read to give a personal perspective to his story.
This app is very well done and the interaction between the text, letters and images holds the attention and makes it fun to navigate through. Great app for teachers to have in their arsenal to display on the overhead or for students to use as an e-textbook.
