SkyGrid delivers to your iPad or iPhone the latest news from 100s of sources in sports, business, science and technology, health, travel, art and design, and many others. The opening page of the app lists top news stories of the day in an easy to navigate photo grid. News stories can be viewed from multiple news sources and specific stories can be selected for following. A quick view of one of the top stories, “Apollo 11 Engines Found” showed me the same story from diverse news agencies like New Scientist, Techradar, ABC, MSNBC, Reuters, and dozens of other sources. 

One of the quirks of this app I found was that when a story is selected only an excerpt of story is given. There is a View More link which takes you to the actual full online story in the built in browser of the app, making actually reading the story a two-step process.

You can set up a “Your News” feed where a grid of top stories that are of particular interest to you are displayed. Topics from the Top 10 news agencies, Science and Technology, Politics, Entertainment, Sports, Business, Health, Travel, US and World news, Style, Art and Design, and Food can be selected to follow. 

Use this app in the classroom to follow current events and get its perspective from various sources. Students can not only read relevant news item but also see how they are interpreted by different news agencies.
